Fundraising Spotlight

Thank you to all the individuals and organisations who choose to support Eikon

Here are some examples to inspire you:

Eikon receives £12,000 cheque from the fundraising efforts of members at West Byfleet Golf Clu!

Earlier in the year Eikon was thrilled to find out that we had been selected by West Byfleet Golf Club's 2011 Captain as his charity for the year. On 29th July the Club held its Annual Charity Day as part of a programme of raising money for local charities. The main event and other events throughout the year raised an outstanding £12,000 for Eikon which was presented at an awards lunch on 25th September.  A huge thank you to Club Captain Geoffrey Shepheard and the entire Golf Club for their continued support, this donation will make such a big difference to Eikon.

Fullbrook Principal Anne Turner’s personal challenge

As a commitment to Eikon’s work, in August Fullbrook School’s Principal Anne Turner decided to fulfil a personal challenge in aid of the charity.  Anne spent two weeks walking from coast to coast between St Bees (on the Irish Sea coast) to Robin Hoods Bay (on the North Sea coast).  Click here for Anne's personal account of her journey. Anne used this opportunity to raise as much sponsorship money as possible for Eikon and has now reached a staggering £2,000!  Her final target is £3,000, so to make your donation in support of her challenge please visit  www.virginmoneygiving.com/anneturnerfullbrookprincipal

Sky Dive!

We are delighted to hear that Becky Miller who earlier this year took part in Slimming World’s sponsored slim in aid of Eikon, has also now completed a skydive raising money for EIKON.   "I have to say after doing my jump yesterday i am on such a high right now. It is the best thing i have ever done and i am looking to book again !! Its hard to explain, but it was the most terrifying experience ever but at the same time the best ever ! Free falling was amazing it was just a feeling of total weightlessness. We went 12000 feet up when we jumped and the free fall was at 150 mph for one minute. The landing wasn't great though ! The wind caught our shute as we were landing and dragged us a little so i ended up on my face star fished with the instructor on top of me as he was still attached. I think its on the video so that will be very amusing !" See our facebook page for photos of Becky.

Becky raised an amazing £470 for EIKON. Anyone who would still like to sponsor her for her terrific achievement can do so at www.virginmoneygiving.com/Becks81.  If you would like to take part in a skydive or another challenge event for Eikon please do get in touch with us through the “Contact Us” page.

EIKONic fundraiser of the month

Thank-you to our EIKONic fundraiser of the month, Jules McClean for taking part in a recent three peaks challenge and raising a significant amount of money for Eikon.  We are so grateful for all our fundraisers who get out there and challenge themselves in support of young people in the county who need all our help.  Thank-you!

Golfing Pro Bernhard Langer tells us why he is so supportive of our work

“Young people need a good support structure if they are to thrive. If this is missing when the foundations of life are being built, their future will be uncertain. Eikon’s work is all about ensuring that young people receive the support they need when the normal structure has failed - and this is why I support them.”  Bernhard Langer Professional Golfer and Winner of 2 Major Championships – pictured here with his son Stefan
