Hi my name is Maddy and I began working for Eikon in September 2008. I recently qualified as a Social Worker from Birmingham University and I am hoping to put what I have learnt both there and from working at a Pupil Referral Unit into practice at Bishop David Brown School (BDB) where I am based. In 2007 the school was described by Ofsted as "inspiring, motivating and caring" which is exactly what I have found so far.

My role at BDB consists of working closely alongside the Accelerated Learning Centre, which offers a safe, secure environment for students experiencing difficulties coping in lessons. I am going to be providing group work, mentoring and 1-1 appointments and hope that this support will enable young people to gain a better understanding of themselves and their difficulties, in turn helping them to develop effective coping strategies and reach their full potential in life.
