Fullbrook School

My name is Francesca and I am the Relational Youth Worker and Connexions Personal Advisor for eikon, based at Fullbrook School. I work with young people who may be struggling in various aspects of their lives and need someone to talk to. I run an open door policy where students can drop in if they need support and also work on a one to one appointment basis.

The support I offer can vary widely. Some may need support with friendship issues, bereavement and family problems such as divorce. Some may need assistance with dealing with exam pressure and advice on future plans. More specialist and intensive work may be around eating disorders, self harm and drugs and alcohol. I also run group workshops throughout the terms on issues that affect young people such as relationships, self esteem and anger management. eikon is seen by many as a “safe haven” when things are getting tough at school or at home and they need to talk or simply have someone listen.

Students are encouraged to self refer as it is their choice to work with eikon and we hope it will be a positive and fulfilling experience when they do. Heads of Years and other staff members may suggest students that could benefit from our work so I invite them to eikon for an appointment.

It never ceases to amaze me; the courage and determination young people hold no matter what life throws at them. However, young people and adults alike, we all sometimes need that little bit of extra help. I have a passion for working with young people and I am confident that supporting young people during difficult times, will help them develop valuable skills and knowledge which will allow them to succeed and reach their full potential.
