My name is Affy Harris and I am the Relational Youth Worker and Connexions P.A Manager for Eikon. I am based fulltime at Fullbrook School, Addlestone. My role is to provide onsite support for students who may be struggling or finding life difficult. I offer a listening ear and help find any extra support students may need.
The topics can vary widely, for some it could be friendships and bullying issues, or it can be exam stress or future plans, for others its more personal things like getting on with parents, relationships or depression.
Students are able to self refer by popping in during a break time if they want to say hello or book an appointment. Sometimes Heads of Year will suggest to a student that they come and see me, or they will give me names of students to invite over. I also run group work sessions for different topics e.g. relationships, healthy living, anger management. These bring together students to work through the topic together. Everything I offer is voluntary so students don’t need to feel obliged to attend.
The Eikon Building is very easy to find, it’s on your right as you enter the school gates and is bright blue, and we also have a graffiti art wall on one side and decking.
