HOW IS THE EVENT STRUCTURED?
The event is designed to be competitive. Teams of four can race against each other, with the eikon Challenge Cup being presented to the team which completes the course in the shortest time. However, the event is also open to teams who would just like to complete the challenge and not necessarily compete against other teams. Team start-off will be staggered.

WHEN IS IT?
The next walk is planned for the weekend of 26-28th June 2009.

DO I NEED TO BE IN A TEAM?
Yes. The challenge is structured into teams of four (min). A designated team leader is required from each team.

HOW FIT DO WE NEED TO BE?
The 15 peaks is tough. Each team is responsible for its team members' fitness and training program, as well as equipment. See Terms & Conditions for more information.

HOW MUCH TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE DO WE NEED?
The walk does require map reading and navigational skills. The route for the challenge will be given to you in advance for your team to follow.

WHAT IS THE CHALLENGE?
Simply to complete the challenge in the fastest time possible, ensuring that all rules (e.g. getting to each checkpoint!!!) are adhered to.

HOW DO WE GET THERE?
It is the responsibility of each team to make their own way to Bangor. The organisers will provide you with directions to your accommodation. Coaches will be available to deliver you to the start of the event and you will be transported back after you finish.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
To secure the team's entry each person in the team is required to pay £100 per person as a non refundable deposit. Each individual is then required to raise a minimum of £300 in sponsorship by 31 August 2009. This covers all the costs of the event and makes a small donation to the charity. We encourage you to raise more than the minimum sponsorship as all the extra funds generated will be directed to the good work of the charity. Cheques should be made payable to 'The Eikon Charity.'

CAN I TAKE PART IN THIS EVENT AND RAISE MONEY FOR THE CHARITY OF MY CHOICE?
Yes, as well as eikon, you can currently raise money for Hope HIV.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT?
The 15 Peaks Challenge organisers and the eikon charity cannot be, and will not be responsible for the safety of any of the participants of this challenge. This includes personal belongings and the health and safety of those taking part. It is not the responsibility of the organisers or the eikon charity to monitor fitness levels, or abilities before or during the challenge. It is the responsibility of the participant to ensure they are prepared with all equipment necessary to complete the challenge safely. The organisers are not responsible for supplying equipment or emergency supplies. Individuals undertake this challenge entirely at their own risk.

HOW DO I COLLECT MY SPONSORSHIP MONEY?
Any way you wish. However, we recommend that you set up a fundraising webpage so that you can tell people about what you're going to do. Your friends can then donate online and the money is sent directly to eikon. For more information, go to www.justgiving.com/eikon/raisemoney and follow the on-screen instructions. If you are raising money for hopehiv and also need to raise the minimum for eikon, we recommend you set up two pages - one for each charity. For help using this site, please contact the eikon office.

WHAT'S NEXT?
If you want to do this, START TRAINING TODAY, then once you have formed your team and signed up, the organisers will contact you to give you more details. You will be required to pay the non-refundable deposits. You will receive a pack detailing everything you need to know, including sponsorship forms, etc. It is then your responsibility to raise the necessary sponsorship. It sounds a lot, but remember, it's a big challenge, much bigger than the 3 peaks!
