Gift Aid

What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid allows charities to claim back the tax from sponsors or donors as income or capital gains tax. This means that EIKON gets an extra 28p from the government for every pound donated. If you raised £1,500 and got all your sponsors to "Gift Aid" their donations, EIKON could claim an extra £420!

How does it work?
Anyone can make a Gift Aid donation if they are a UK tax payer and have paid enough income tax and/ or capital gains tax in that year to cover what the charity claims on your donations (most employed people will therefore qualify). Once EIKON has received the donation we can reclaim the tax (which you have already paid) from the Inland Revenue. This does not cost you anything at all.

How do I go about it?
Make sure that you tick the Gift Aid box on the donation form with any donations you send to EIKON that can be claimed against. (By ticking the box, you have completed your declaration) You also need to make sure that you provide the FULL name, address and POSTCODE of the donor in order for us to be able to claim back the tax.

If you are taking part in an event forEIKON, all you have to do is get your sponsors to complete their details and indicate (by ticking the Gift Aid box) that they want to Gift Aid their donation on your sponsor form. You must then send in your donation summary form and sponsor form(s) with all the details filled in.
