There are many ways young people can help others, whilst also developing their leadership and interpersonal skills. Opportunities include:
Assisting in lunch clubs for younger years is a great way for you to support other young people. This would include playing games with the young people that attend, offering them support, helping them with homework and most importantly acting as a role model.
In some of our schools we run peer mentoring schemes and you could apply to be a Peer Mentor. Peer mentors are older students who have been specially trained to offer advice to younger students who may be experiencing a range of issues from bullying to support with homework.
Eikon run a couple of residentials a year and are always looking for young people who have the right skills needed to act as 'junior leader'. You would be expected to set a good example and act as a role model whilst also motivating and offering support to the young people on the residential.
