Chris was one of the founders of Eikon back in 1995. He is a qualified youth worker and became our first employee, working 2 days a week for the charity in the early days.
After the first year, Chris became our first full-time youth worker, working in the community and in Fullbrook School. In 2003 he became the director of Eikon and as a result does less face-to-face youth work than before. This works for everyone, especially the young people as he is no longer as young as he likes to think he is!
Chris likes to play most sports and vigorously takes part in most, if not all, of eikon's sponsored events. However, his love of food does occasionally get in the way of his status as an athlete!
Chris is married to Clare and they have two children - Emily (8) and Archie (6). They live in New Haw. "I am as energised about our work as the day we first started. In 16 years we have helped many people - but quite clearly our work is not yet complete. I am very committed to ensuring that we do so much more to support people in need over the next 16 years and the next 16 after that!"
Katie Butler - Operations OfficerHello, my name is Katie Butler and I have been working at Eikon for just over 18 months. I spent my first year as Office Administrator but was then promoted to the role of Operations Officer. Before joining Eikon I worked for Harper Collins Publishers for 8 years followed by a couple of years at home with my son.
Being based in the busy Eikon HQ I get to see, on a daily basis, how important Eikon is to the young people who use our services, as well as seeing the dedication and passion of our staff who work hard to meet the increasing demands of the charity. My role as Operations Officer is to ensure the smooth running of the charity and provide support to frontline and office staff.
Jessica Maybanks - Fundraising Development ManagerAs Fundraising and Development Manager at Eikon, my role is a fantastically varied one, covering communications, marketing, supporter-relations and fundraising. Having been in post for a year (as of Feb’ 2012!), I have been increasingly delighted by the wonderful support Eikon receives from the local community. I am already proud to be part of an organisation with such an outstanding reputation. I have been in fundraising for around eight years and it’s something I love doing – particularly developing new partnerships and thinking of creative ways to differentiate our fundraising efforts…this year’s Nightrider night cycle is just one exciting project that is proving popular.
Eikon remains heavily reliant on donations and voluntary income, so we really do need all the support we can get to make sure Eikon can remain true to its vision of supporting vulnerable young people across the county. If you would like to find out more about getting involved with Eikon either as an individual, community group, school, church, company or other, then I would love to hear from you. I am on 01932 347 434 or at jessica@eikon.org.uk
Sally Chiverton – Team AdministratorHaving watched Eikon develop since 1995, I thought I knew what happened at the Charity, but since starting work here in June 2011, I now realise that there is much more than I anticipated and I’m really enjoying the challenge of learning all about it.
My role as the Team Administrator instantly involves me in everyone else’s work and the variety is enormous. From helping with fundraising events if Jess needs me, to meeting visitors, checking out the mail, taking minutes at meetings and a huge assortment of other bits and pieces, my working life is pretty busy and immensely rewarding.
