Residential - Kenya Trip
You can't complain when taking a trip to Kenya is in your job description- and I certainly wasn't going to!. Mrs Gibbons, a teacher at Fullbrook school, set up a charity a number of years ago supporting a field study centre in Marich Pass (north Kenya). This year was the tenth trip to Marich Pass. We were surprised with super close viewings of Cheetahs and had fun participating in water fights in the river with the children from the village. The trip was a great opportunity on a personal level, but more importantly it was great to see the attitudes of the students change during the week. I think it is easy when travelling to a place like Kenya to focus on what we can do for them. What I realised during the week is that they have just as much to teach us. It was all too apparent that we were comparatively rich westerners, with many material possessions and that the Pokot people had very little. Despite this, I have never met more generous and happy people. I believe we had by far the greater privilege in meeting them than they had in meeting us.
